Come join us as we ride across beautiful Lake Verret and into surrounding bayous on the Attakapas Princess for a true Louisiana swamp tour. Peer into the Louisiana Bald Cypress-Tupelo Gum swamps, dripping with Spanish Moss. See the state wild flower, the Louisiana Blue Iris in the early spring. Learn about cypress logging at the turn of the last century and see a 100+ year old steam locomotive on the site of an original skidder camp. Hear about the geological history of an area rich in gas and oil. Let your imagination take you back in time while I tell you about the Attakapas Indians who centuries ago called these swamps home . See Bald Eagles and Osprey soaring overhead fishing or resting on treetops along the waters edge. Watch a Great Blue Heron stalk and catch a meal. See the Snowy Egret, Little Blue Heron, Great Egret and White Ibis as well as the Belted Kingfisher, Red-tailed Hawks, Double-Crested Cormorant, American Anhinga and others too numerous to mention. See flocks of American White Pelicans wintering on our lakes. While slowly cruising you may see Nutria, armadillo, squirrel, wood ducks, and of course the American Alligator warming in the sun. Trips made by appointment for your convenience and guided by a Coast Guard licensed Captain. The average trip last 2½ to 3 hours, depending on how much time you want to spend and how many pictures you want to take. We also offer a sunset cruise. Ice cold drinks furnished aboard at no charge for your refreshment along the way. Fishing Charters also available for as little as a couple of hours to a full days adventure.
